Let us not retreat

By November 12, 20146 Comments

Dear Father in Heaven,

My mind is overwhelmed with so many thoughts. I have been experiencing a variety of emotions. It is ridiculous what is happening around the world and at home in Canada.  I don’t understand how you can cope with all the evil acts that are destroying this world, trying to kill the human spirit and the loss of innocence. There is no logic or justification for this.

With our human nature we are inclined to take comfort in the rational; seeking the knowledge of why.  Yes, the goodness of humanity rises and people are more receptive to prayer and acknowledging that You are God. More people come to You in tragic times but then we retreat back, we turn back to our daily lives until the next tragedy occurs.

I pray that as Your followers we stop slipping into complacency but remain steadfast and vigilant in testifying to Your goodness Oh Lord.  We take so much for granted; we are privileged in having so many freedoms to worship yet I feel like people are reserved. Help us to be more conscious of your spirit, to acknowledge the truth and let the Holy Spirit shine.   I pray that the Spirit shines through humanity and is contagious in drawing people to Your glorious light.

This is a hard place to live but with You it’s more enjoyable, more sacred, more fulfilling and not so lonely. You are the only source of true comfort and everlasting change.

Amen

These are the days that we, the people of God, were born for.. the days spoken of in Isa. 60:1-3 “Arise, shine; For your light has come and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

This is not the time to retreat but to stand in the power of the Spirit, resting under the wings of the Most High God (Ps.91:1,2), releasing His Life and Love and Courage to all those around us. One day all things will be made clear and will be made right. For now, it is time for the Bride to make herself ready for her beautiful Bridegroom. We embrace our “trials by fire” knowing that they have the power to purify and perfect our faith and to transform us more closely to the image of the Son. Gaze into His lovely face, beautiful Bride. Remain IN Him. These are your days to let Him shine through you as you walk in union with the Lover of your soul. Great grace and peace to you.

Amen to this prayer, Lucy! And I love the Scripture Donna gives in her comment. It is going to become a key focus for me for the next while. Blessings on you both.

Lucy, you have such an amazing ability to speak words that hearts and minds are feeling but cannot express. Your spirit cries out and resonates with our spirits.
